Lion's Tail Elixir - Bacana Coffee Recipe

A unique concoction that merges the world of a Barista with the spirit of a Bartender. Rooted in the richness of Bacana's Mushroom Coffee Fusion, Lion’s Mane & Chaga, this beverage is an ode to tradition, craft, and innovation. Every sip is a sensory journey that has been refined through 25 years of mastery.

Ingredients:

  • 1 dose of Bacana's Mushroom Coffee Fusion - Lion’s Mane & Chaga

  • 200ml of fresh water

  • 10ml of simple syrup (adjust based on preference)

  • Ice cubes

  • Lemon zest (for garnish)

  • A pinch of sea salt

8 Reasons

Aroma, Taste, and Sensation:

Upon the first sip, the drinker is greeted with the robust and earthy aroma of the mushroom-infused coffee, reminiscent of a forest after a fresh rain. The Lion’s Mane provides a gentle cognitive boost, while the Chaga introduces a rich, velvety texture, adding depth and body to the coffee. The simple syrup introduces a delicate sweetness that lingers on the palate, harmoniously balancing out the slight bitterness of the coffee. The pinch of sea salt further accentuates the depth of flavors, making each sip a multifaceted experience.

The refreshing hint of lemon zest at the end invigorates the senses, ensuring the drink remains light and refreshing. It contrasts the dense mushroom flavor, offering a momentary escape to a citrus orchard.

In essence, the Lion's Tail Elixir is not just a beverage; it's an experience, a sensory journey through forests and orchards, one that warms the soul while refreshing the mind. Cheers!

Coffee Grind Size:

For this particular recipe, the coffee should be ground to a medium-coarse consistency. This is comparable to coarse sea salt. This grind allows for a slow extraction of the coffee's flavor, complementing the unique taste profiles of the mushroom fusion.

Calibration:

Ensure your grinder is regularly cleaned to prevent old coffee particles from affecting the freshness of your grind.

Adjust the grind size to medium-coarse. If you're using a burr grinder, set it to a setting suitable for a French Press or cold brew.

Always grind the coffee just before brewing to ensure maximum freshness.

Process:

Begin by boiling your fresh water. Once boiled, allow it to cool for a minute to bring it down to a temperature of around 95°C (203°F).

In a French Press or Aeropress, add your dose of Bacana's Mushroom Coffee Fusion.

Pour over the hot water, ensuring all the coffee grounds are wet.

Allow the coffee to steep for 4 minutes. This allows the coffee to extract the flavors fully, particularly the earthy undertones of the mushrooms.

While the coffee steeps, add the simple syrup to a glass.

After 4 minutes, press the coffee using the French Press or use the Aeropress to extract the coffee into a separate vessel.

Add a pinch of sea salt to the extracted coffee and stir. This elevates the richness of the flavors.

Fill your glass with ice cubes and pour the mushroom coffee over.

Garnish with a zest of lemon. The citrus note contrasts beautifully with the earthiness of the mushroom coffee, providing a refreshing aftertaste.
